 | Grading Syllabus for Shotokan Karate (DVD) Over 300 video clips are easily accessed via 37 menu cards. Menu is broken down into Kyu grades and then into Basics, Kata and Sparring All the techniques a student will need to demonstrate.
If a student was preparing for his 4th Kyu belt and wished to review a particular stance or a block within a Kata before his grading, he would be able to select the belt grade and then choose the camera angle that was most appropriate. For example, the student could select a top shot, then the relevant close up, perhaps in profile, then watch it in slow motion to counts, and then run the sequence at normal speed until satisfied. Action can be frozen at any moment if he so wished. Invaluable for really studying moves in detail!
In addition the DVD gives the option of watching any of the Kata as a split screen so that the same action can be reviewed at the same time in both wide shot and close up.
Also the DVD has been designed to allow the front wide shot of any of the Katas filmed, to be viewed as a mirror image, giving the students the option of lining themselves up with the image on the screen and following the actions precisely.
As featured in Combat Magazine and Traditional Karate.
